693 - late by WolfcatStock 693 - late by WolfcatStock
eh...yep.

------

So I'm really late to the party here. Years, in fact it seems. Thank you SO much for the DD! I never in a million years thought that my stock would get one!

That said, I realize many of you wish it hadn't gotten one, based on your comments. All I have to say to you in general is...go use another person's stock then.

Thank you to the rest of you who made positive and/or constructive comments! I appreciate every one of them!

I don't understand what people are saying, this totally diserved the DD. It can be interpreted as anything you want, and what people are say is "grainy" makes me think it's actually happening in front of me. Nice job!

Oh no problem. It's unfair people are so harsh about this. I mean, it's like that old saying we all learned when we were five: If you don't have anything nice to say, don't sya anything at all.

Stunning emotion in this shot. When I saw it in the previews, it was an immediate shock and I had to click on it to see it. Fantastic projection of emotion here. Really great work.

I don't get why people are so angry or shocked that this got a DD. It's called stock with meaning. While she might not be expression her own emotions, she is showing them through her body placement. The arms on the chest represent vulnerablilty, and the fact she is sitting in that position shows innocence. Plus, it doesn't matter if it's grainy... it's part of the manipulator's job to edit photos... why does the stock photo have to be like an actual art photo.

I think this is beautiful... keep up the good work!

Great fundament up there!

And grainy or not, it's up to the user to make the image beautiful or not. The shot itself has a lot to give

It seems easy to get a DD with stock shot, I don't find anything special in this image or anything worth a DD. oh well...

Not really that easy to get DDs in stock.

The thing is that each category has a different set of rules when handing out a DD.

Photography, for example, needs to be crisp and clear, potentially have a message or even just be asthetically pleasing.

Stock has a different set of rules. It needs to be useful. This can mean a number of different sub-rules. EG: Can the image be used in a number of different styles of artwork? Is the image easy to crop out and/or would it be better for traditional work? Does the stock lend itself to a certain genre? Aka, does it have a dark theme, a sad theme, a bright and bubbly theme...

You just need to open your mind a bit. You can't say DDs can only be given out because people like the look of them. Sometimes DDs are given for their use instead of how they look already.

Yea I'm with you. DD to me are something which stands out or is really special. Something which needs to featured. This...this just isn't anything special. Good on the person who made the shot. I'm sure he/she is exstatic but this to me is just a waste of DD slots I guess.

I really don't understand how this could have gotten a nomination for a Daily deviant.

It's really grainy and boring :/ I don't feel anything or see anything in this piece... It's really unoriginal and just looks like a teenager playing around with a camera.

Also, her foot looks really unnautral with her big toe being pushed back but the rest of her toes being pushed forward. O__o

Perhaps you should look up the term 'stock photo' in the Help/FAQ section.

If you consider yourself an artists perhaps you should take the challenge and use this in a manipulation. After all, a piece of stock is only as good as an artist will let it be.

:iconewic:
Ewic Featured By Owner Nov 9, 2008
I just don't think that this piece is very original, whether it's going to be airbrushed into something original, or not.

It's just ugly. I'm not condoning her as an artist, I'm just not a fan of this particular picture. And I have no idea what someone saw in it that would make them want to nominate it for a DD.

:icondemonicintuition:
demonicintuition Featured By Owner Nov 9, 2008
Original? Yeah, that happens a lot in stock.
Do a search for 'fairy'. I assure you, you'll get about 500% more results for that compared to an image like this. Doesn't stop the fairies getting DDs though.

And you know the beauty of DDs? If you don't like something, its easy to suggest something you DO like :)

Then again, someone else might not like it and flame it, like you have here.

My point is that you are attacking an image that got DD'd for something that happens a lot in stock. The only reason you're angry at this one is because it got a DD.

I don't like ALL DD, but this is the only one that I didn't particularly like so much that I felt the need to comment on it. The thing I didn't particularly like was the un-originality of the piece. I felt the pose was cliché and the quality poor.

On the plus side, it goes to show that the DA admins aren't biased to just high quality, highly polished works., and it has people talking.

There are many cliche poses in my gallery and some which you might think are not. This is not the photo I would have chosen had I been given the choice of which would be featured. *shrug* I'm sorry you didn't like it.

There are over 1million stock photos on dA alone. Poses are done over and over again. Compared to the usual 'sitting side ways, knees bent up, hand raised in the air while wearing a fairy costume' stock photos - this is barely done.

In fact, if you want to see cliche'd poses - do a search for fairy in the stock section ;)
